Handmade details make a home feel loved and lived-in, which is our goal here at Highland and Harbor. Paper crafts are especially timeless and an easy, budget-friendly way to decorate for the holidays. We invite you to come along as we craft this paper chain heart garland for Valentine’s Day.
Materials Needed:
The great thing about this project is that very few items are needed to make this. In fact, you might already have all the materials you need on hand!
Please note: Other types of paper can be used to make paper chain garland, so feel free to use what you have on hand! We chose to use cardstock because it is highly durable and can be packed away and enjoyed for years to come.

- Paper cutter (we recommend this one here). Scissors can also work, but will take longer.
- Stapler
- 12×12 inch cardstock (we recommend this one here).
Instructions:
- Start by cutting down your 12×12-inch cardstock into a 9×12-inch piece.

- Take your 9×12-inch piece and cut it into 1.5×9-inch strips.

- Take your 3×12-inch piece leftover from the first step and cut it into a 3×9-inch piece. Then, cut this piece in half lengthwise into two 1.5×9-inch strips.

- Fold all your strips of paper in half lengthwise to form a V-shape.

- Take the open ends of one strip and curl each end inwards to meet the other and form a “heart-shape.” Staple these ends together.

- Take another strip of paper and curl the open ends inwards to form a heart shape. Place the bottom of the first heart you made in between the open ends of this second strip while holding it in place to retain its heart shape. Staple together the top and bottom of these two strips of paper to form two hearts.

- Continue the steps above until you reach your desired length of garland.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on how to make your very own Valentine’s heart paper garland! Please let me know below if you have any questions, and I would love to know how you displayed your beautifully finished piece!
